It was 2016. We began working on a new account. It was an early-stage SaaS company that had cracked product-market fit. We had gotten started with a scope focused on SEO, content marketing, blogging, paid campaigns, emails, and analytics. The scope held out well. It created a system that ensured marketing activities happened like clockwork. But, there emerged one problem. The scope was not pulling enough qualified leads into the funnel.
We revisited the scope. We proposed prioritizing and increasing activities that generated more traffic. Thus, we curtailed effort on content marketing and emails. Instead, SEO, blogging, and paid campaigns became the clear agenda.
This approach while being in the best interest of the client does not always work out for us. It is a reality we have accepted and are comfortable with. When the growth formula works out and yields predictable results over months and years, it is in the best interest of the client to insource the team. In such situations, we take the exit, aligning to the very cause, we started with.
